Migrating SMART service to National ITMX

SMART service, former name “Media Clearing” is a retail funds-transfer system, since January 1997. Members consist of 13 commercial banks, two specialized banks, and 13 foreign banks. There are two kinds of services: credit transfer, by which to conduct transfers from a customer’s account to another customer’s account with another bank (used for payments of salaries, pensions, dividends, interests, and other items), and debit transfer, by which to conduct transfers by debiting a customer’s pre-arranged account (used for payments of public utility charges, insurance premiums, credit card bills, loan repayments, and other items).  

Since December 2002 files have been exchanged on-line between member financial institutions and the central bank, using the System for Managing Automated Retail Funds Transfer (SMART).  Afterwards, on October 15, 2007, INFOMAX has helped in production support to migrate this service to National ITMX (NITMX) – Nation ITMX was originally founded under the name ATM Pool Company Limited in 1993. Subsequently, on July 8, 2005, the company was renamed National ITMX Company Limited to expand and extend the scope of the company's business and products. Specifically, National ITMX was created to satisfy Thailand's requirement to keep up with continuing global advancement in electronic commerce and payment systems. National ITMX is set up to be the key infrastructure and central data processing system that exchanges, manages, and processes data across member banks/organizations in order to support e-commerce, electronics fund transfer, etc. The system supports all kinds of electronic payments and funds transfer from various channels including ATMs, Counters, Internet and mobile channels. To foster the interoperability among banks, the system created utilizes open platform that are secured, efficient, and has the ability to respond rapidly to the ever changing business environment. Stemming from the Bank of Thailand's insight, National ITMX is developing a framework to bring Thailand's electronic commerce and payment system to the same level as international best practice.
